Peter J. Salmon is a Senior Litigation Attorney at Peterson Law, LLP. Mr. Salmon has practiced law since 1994, developing extensive experience in his primary focuses of business, real estate, and regulatory litigation. He utilizes effective litigation strategies while maintaining a practical business perspective to obtain successful results on behalf of all corporate and individual clients. Mr. Salmon is licensed to practice in California, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah. He has extensive experience as a trial attorney in each of these jurisdictions, as well as appellate litigation experience before the Courts of Appeal in California, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah, and the Ninth and Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Before joining Peterson Law, Mr. Salmon was a partner at Aldridge Pite (formerly Pite Duncan), a large real estate and financial services litigation firm with a national presence. Mr. Salmon managed the West Coast litigation group, covering matters in the state and Federal Courts of California, Washington, Oregon, Utah, Alaska, and Idaho. He represented all major lenders and loan servicers in contested matters involving residential real property, including defense of claims for wrongful foreclosure, violation of TILA, RESPA, FDCPA, and all state unlawful/unfair trade practices statutes. Mr. Salmon successfully defended clients at trial in multiple states. He also litigated and managed litigation involving disputes concerning Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and GNMA securitizations. Mr. Salmon managed commercial and multi-family loan agreement disputes and litigation for Fannie Mae and private commercial lenders, provided advice and litigation representation for loans involving commercial properties, and prepared commercial leases. He obtained published decisions in Idaho Supreme Court, the Court of Appeal for California, the Court of Appeals for Oregon, the Court of Appeals for Utah, and successful appellate representation of clients in unpublished decisions in Court of Appeals for Washington, the 9th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Prior to joining Aldridge Pite, Mr. Salmon worked in solo practice and for a small San Diego firm. He provided representation of private business clients in California state courts and a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Trustee in litigation and estate administration, cases involving international asset transfers, preference litigation, and collection from debtors and creditors. He handled contested matters in each of the U.S. Bankruptcy and District Courts of California, as well as the 9th Circuit Bankruptcy Appellate Panel.
Mr. Salmon was admitted to the California Bar in 1994 after receiving his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. While at USD Law, Mr. Salmon was chosen as a member of the national moot court team and was elected as student government representative. Prior to law school, Mr. Salmon received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from Boston College magna cum laude, and his M.B.A in Professional Accounting from Rutgers University. He worked for two years as an auditor for Price Waterhouse in its New York City office prior to attending law school.
Mr. Salmon enjoys spending time with his family in the beautiful city of San Diego and volunteering monthly with the Friends of Marston Canyon.
